Privacy Policy
At Fischer Psychological, I’m committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the confidentiality of your personal information. This Privacy Policy outlines how I collect, use, and safeguard your data when you visit my website or engage my services as a psychologist in Alberta, Canada.
1. Information I Collect
I may collect the following types of personal information:
- Contact Details: Name, email address, phone number, and mailing address when you submit the contact form or communicate with me directly.
- Health Information: Details shared during therapy sessions (e.g., trauma history), which are kept strictly confidential under Alberta’s health privacy laws.
- Website Use: We collect data like IP address and browser type via Google Analytics and Search Console to improve site functionality. Cookies may track usage. Data may be shared with third parties like Google. We may add marketing tools later. You can manage cookies in your browser or contact us for details.
2. How I Use Your Information
Your information helps me:
- Respond to inquiries and schedule consultations.
- Provide psychological services tailored to your needs, such as EMDR or Somatic Experiencing therapy.
- Meet legal and professional obligations under the College of Alberta Psychologists and applicable laws like PIPA and HIA.
- I’ll never share your details for marketing or unrelated purposes.
3. How I Protect Your Data
I take your privacy seriously:
- Security: Contact form data is stored securely on my Webflow-hosted site and email system, accessible only to me. Health records are kept in encrypted, offline files per Alberta standards.
- Confidentiality: As a psychologist, I follow strict ethical guidelines—your therapy information stays private unless required by law (e.g., imminent harm).
- Retention: I keep contact info only as long as needed to reply or schedule, and therapy records for 10 years per Alberta regulations, then securely destroy them.
4. Sharing Your Information
I don’t sell or share your data, except:
- With your consent (e.g., insurance billing if you provide approval).
- If legally required (e.g., court order or mandatory reporting for safety).
No third-party processors are currently involved, but if that changes (e.g., adding payment tools), I’ll update this policy.
5. Your Rights
Under PIPA, you can:
- Request access to your personal information I hold.
- Ask for corrections if it’s inaccurate.
- Withdraw consent for non-essential uses (though therapy records must be retained per law).
Contact me below to exercise these rights.
