My Services

Fischer Psychological provides individual counselling and assessment services, primarily to adults, though adolescents can also access services with parental consent. Most services are treatment focused and designed to reduce the effects of trauma, addiction and mental health issues on you. Fischer Psychological provides general assessment to best understand treatment needs, and also completes Veteran's Affairs Canada (VAC) Medical Questionnaires, an assessment to help determine a veteran's benefit entitlements based on eligible health conditions.

Read on to learn more about specific treatment modalities and services.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Fischer Psychological offers EMDR to help you process experiences of trauma, ideal for Alberta’s first responders who face operational stress, or those exposed to other forms of trauma. This method is evidence-based and uses bilateral stimulation to activate the brain to enable you to learn from and develop new perspectives on stressful events.

Somatic Experiencing (SE)

SE helps you access and release trauma physiology stored in the body, perfect for anyone who has experienced trauma and whose body remains stuck in a fight or flight response. This gentle, effective technique focuses on gradually releasing distress in the body to restore balance to your nervous system with no need to relive details.

For more information on SE, check out Somatic Experiencing International.

VAC Medical Questionnaires

Fischer Psychological assists veterans with VAC Medical Questionnaires. They are used to determine or reassess a veteran’s eligible mental health conditions related to their service. This helps you to get the benefit entitlements you deserve - reach out for more information.

Return to work planning

Return to Work Planning

Fischer Psychological can help you plan for a successful return-to-work after trauma, addiction, or mental health challenges have left you unable to work. This may involve crafting a return-to-work plan, establishing work restrictions, or supporting re-employment to ensure your functioning at work while still managing your condition.

Addiction Care

Fischer Psychological can help you move toward abstinence or harm reduction. Or maybe you want to sort out your motivation to change. I also support people impacted by their loved one’s use and clarify their own role in moving toward change. I also coordinate referrals to inpatient addiction facilities, should it be a needed first step.
